SWS Law Firm has entered into an agreement with the Maritime Office in Szczecin regarding comprehensive legal services in the investment project titled “Modernisation of the Świnoujście-Szczecin waterway up to 12.5m depth” worth close to PLN 1.4 billion. The agreement provides for representation of the Office as the Investor in matters including the award of public contracts and the performance of agreements made with contractors implementing the investment project in question. The agreement was signed for a 5-year-term, up to 31 December 2022.

The modernisation of the Świnoujście-Szczecin waterway is of strategic importance for the future of West Pomeranian ports, as well as for the national economy and security. The objective of the investment is to provide for improved security of ships sailing to the seaports of West Pomerania, to halt the advanced degradation of bank protection structures, and to eliminate adverse events and threats arising during flood flows.

Works aimed at bringing the waterway down to 12.5 m depth have been gradually under way for many years. The project is being implemented within the framework of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment, and amounts to approx. PLN 1.385 billion in total. The waterway modernisation project is to be completed by 2022.
